Little Nightingales Day Nursery

Safety

Your child will be cared for in a clean, safe, secure, spacious and welcoming setting.  We can offer facilities for nappy changing, potty or use of the toilet with or without a toilet training seat.  We are happy to assist with potty training.  There are steps for your child to stand on to wash hands at the wash basin.

Our outside play area is a haven for children and will enable your child to partake in lots of physical activity.  Your child will always be under supervision in the outside area. We will plant and nurture flower and vegetable seeds in the ‘children’s garden’ patch and then to harvest their vegetables/herbs when ready.

We request that children are provided with sun hats and sun cream in the summer months and that they understand something about the importance of using these.  Children will be taught the importance of not putting unclean hands in their mouths while outdoors and certainly not any plant. Hand washing will always take place when returning inside from the outdoor area.

We have a fire blanket in our kitchen and smoke alarms (which are maintained in a working condition) throughout the setting.  Your child will practise an emergency escape plan every term.

We have public liability insurance.  This certificate is displayed on our parent notice board.

All of the equipment on the premises conforms to BS EN safety standards or the Toys (Safety) Regulations.

Children will only be allowed to leave the premises with parents/carers who are named on the enrolment form. An additional emergency contact person, who would be able to collect your child, if you are unable to do so, is also requested. In this instance, we operate a password system.  We would expect the person collecting to provide additional information and would also be in full contact with you at all times.

If a person who is not named on the enrolment form is collecting your child, in addition to the above, we require written confirmation, stating their relationship to the child, their contact details and time and date this will be happening.

You will find our setting clean and hygienic. Children will learn about personal hygiene through their daily routine.

Food will be hygienically stored and prepared according to the ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ advice and our setting is registered with Environmental Health.
